I will start this article with my honest opinion. This is one of the worst free-kicks I’ve ever seen in my life, and for those interested, there’s a video to prove it.
Not only did the player miss the goal, but he also hoofed the ball clean out of the stadium! I bet his manager and teammates weren’t too happy with his effort. I have seen some bad free-kicks in my time, but this one takes the cake…
While many football fans are familiar with terrible free-kick misses, it’s not often that you see one this bad.
Magnificent free kick in the Danish League tonight. 🚀 pic.twitter.com/alYnLcdH3I

On Monday evening, the 21-year old defender shanked a contender for the worst free-kick of the year in his team’s 1-0 victory over Vejle Boldklub in the Danish League, surprising really, as Danish players seem pretty good at free-kicks. Just ask any England fan! Mikkel Damsgaard scored a ‘Worldy’ against England in the 2020 Euro Semi-finals at Wembley recently.
Although this was a Danish League game, the player in question happened to be Swedish. His free-kick from distance had power behind it, but his effort didn’t dip, and the ball flew out of the stadium. So at least one lucky fan will have a souvenir!
The Swede’s goalscoring record for SønderjyskE is actually not that bad, surprisingly. Holm has netted five goals in his first 20 appearances for the Danish club, translating to a decent return rate, considering he usually plays in defence.
Clearly, he knows how to score goals, so despite an unsuccessful free-kick on Monday, Holm will likely keep taking the free-kicks, if only to boost his clubs’ social media presence!
