BETTING & MATCH PREDICTION
On Saturday afternoon, Wolfsburg host Bayern Munich at the Volkswagen Arena, in a game that could be vital at the top end of the Bundesliga table.
The Wolves are enjoying a fantastic season and currently sit third place in the table, eight points clear of fifth-place Dortmund in the race for qualification for next season’s Champions League. Despite their position in the table, Oliver Glasner’s team have won three and lost two of their last five Bundesliga matches. Last time out they suffered a 4-3 defeat against fourth-place Eintracht Frankfurt in a highly entertaining clash.
Wolfsburg lofty position in the table has a lot to do with their recent home form in the German top-flight, as the Wolves are unbeaten in 13 league games at the Volkswagen Arena. They have also won nine of their previous 11 matches on home soil in the Bundesliga.
Despite a 1-1 home draw against Union Berlin last time out in the Bundesliga, Bayern will feel confident of retaining their crown as German champions. Hansi Flick’s team are now five points clear of second-place RB Leipzig in the title race.
The draw against Union means that Bayern are unbeaten in their last six Bundesliga outings, although it also ended a five-match winning run in the league for the visitors.
The reigning champions have a decent recent record on their travels in the German top-flight, as they have won five of their last six away games. The one blip was a 2-1 defeat at Eintracht Frankfurt.
Wolfsburg look set to be without the injured Admir Mehmedi and Renato Steffen.
Bayern have a much longer potential list of absentees through injury, as Robert Lewandowski, Ron-Thorben Hoffmann, Douglas Costa, Marc Roca, Serge Gnabry, Niklas Sule and Corentin Tolisso could all miss out.
