BETTING & MATCH PREDICTION
On Sunday night, Valencia host Barcelona at the Mestalla, in what is a massive game for the visitors’ chances of landing the Spanish title this season.
After a summer of upheaval, Valencia are having an expectedly poor campaign in La Liga. Javi Gracia’s team are just six points clear of the relegation zone. The home side should have enough to avoid being sucked into the bottom three, but they are still in a precarious position.
Los Ches head into this game on the back of a five-game winless run in La Liga after a 1-1 draw against Alaves last time out.
However, Valencia have been difficult to beat on home soil of late, as they are eight games unbeaten in the Spanish top-flight at the Mestalla. They have also been prolific on home soil in recent matches, scoring at least two goals in four of their last five home games in La Liga.
The Catalan giants are third-place in La Liga, just two points behind league leaders Atletico Madrid at the top of the table. Ronald Koeman’s team had the chance to go top on Thursday night but suffered a shock 2-1 home defeat against Granada. The defeat means that the Blaugrana have now lost two of their last four matches in the Spanish top-flight.
However, one big positive of late for the visitors in La Liga has been their away record, as they have won ten of their last 11 league games on their travels.
Former Barcelona goalkeeper Jasper Cillessen looks set to miss out through injury against his old club. The visitors are expected to be without Philippe Coutinho, Moussa Wague and Martin Braithwaite. Ansu Fati has recovered from injury, but this game may come too soon for him to feature.
