Valencia vs Real Madrid

SUN 19 SEP 2021 – KO 20:00

Valencia vs

On Sunday night, Valencia host Real Madrid at the Mestalla, in a potentially explosive La Liga clash.

The appointment of former Getafe head coach Jose Bordalas is starting to look like a shrewd one from the Los Che hierarchy. They are currently in second place in the table after yielding ten points from a possible 12 at the beginning of the new La Liga campaign.

Last time out, Valencia recorded a 4-1 win at Osasuna. The victory followed a comfortable 3-0 home win over Alaves. Some would say that Los Che’s recovery began at the end of last season though, as they are currently unbeaten in six games, having recorded four wins.

The victory over Alaves also means that the home side have won their last four league outings at the Mestalla.

Los Blancos have enjoyed a strong start to Carlo Ancelotti’s second stint as head coach. The team from the Spanish capital have picked up the same number of points as their hosts this season. Last time out in La Liga, the visitors hammered Celta Vigo 5-2 on the team’s return to the Bernabeu.

The win over Celta means that Real Madrid are now 22 matches unbeaten in the Spanish top-flight, recording 16 wins in the process.

The visitors are also 17 matches unbeaten on their travels in La Liga. Ironically, the last time Los Blancos taste defeated away from home in La Liga was in a 4-1 defeat against Valencia at the Mestalla last season.

Team News

Valencia’s only likely absentee is Russian forward Denis Cheryshev due to a knee injury.

Real Madrid are expected to be without Ferland Mendy, Dani Ceballos, Marcelo, Toni Kroos and Gareth Bale.

Match Prediction

Valencia look set for a good season under the highly-regarded Bordalas. However, Los Blancos are in good form and we predict that they will record a narrow victory in what could be an entertaining clash.

Odds 10/11
