It’s Southampton vs Burnley on Saturday afternoon with the action kicking off at 15:00, with the visitors look to get out of the bottom three.

SOUTHAMPTON

The Saints finally picked up their first win of the season in their last game. They beat Leeds 1-0, with Chelsea loanee Armando Broja getting the only goal of the game. The win saw Southampton move up to 15th in the table, four points off of the relegation places.

Southampton finished 15th last season, which was disappointing considering the strength of their squad. Since then they have lost Ings, Bertrand and Vestergaard who will all be big misses. This season is going to be a tough one and expectations may well be just to get through the season staying in the league.

For Southampton to put together back to back wins after not having one all season, would be fantastic. They have struggled in front of goal, being the third lowest scorers in the league. It’ll be tough to score against Burnley and Hassenhutl may look to keep Broja upfront with summer signing Armstrong remaining on the bench.

BURNLEY

One of just three sides not to pick up a win so far this season is Burnley. They were beaten by Man City 2-0 in their last game, which was an improvement on the four consecutive 5-0 losses at the Etihad, but it doesn’t do them any favours in the Premier League table.

Over the years, Burnley have made a reputation of making themselves a hard team to beat. They are a very physical sound who are happy to get stuck in. This season though they have conceded 13 already which explains why they are lower down the table. Dyche needs to get this way of playing back into his side as it has worked well for many years.

Against Southampton, it’ll be a tough game for Burnley. They play with a lot of energy and Burnley will need to be organised. A point here wouldn’t be a bad result for Burnley as its away from home and against a side only four points ahead of them.

Southampton are missing Stephens and Ward-Prowse. Adams is doubtful.

Mee and Stephens are out for Burnley with injury. Taylor and Vydra are doubtful.

Match Prediction

Neither side can really afford to lose this game with it being a bottom of the table clash. We see it ending a low scoring draw with both sides struggling in front of goal so far this season.
