Premier League Top Six Pre-Season Fixtures

Manchester City

Now the football season is officially over we are going to be taking a look at what each of the top six sides has lined up for pre-season. 

Pre-season is an extremely important time for any club. It gives the manager a chance to have another look at what they’re missing and also allows new players to get to know they’re new teammates. In pre-season, you will see a lot of youth team players getting chances, as well as new formations and positions being tested. This year it is going to be vital that the tops teams get it right and hit the ground running on the first game of the season.

Man City

The current Champions of the Premier League only have four pre-season games scheduled so far. They travel to China for their first two games and then go to Japan for the first ever time. Man City‘s final game is against Liverpool in the community shield.

Liverpool

Liverpool has the busiest preseason schedule out of all the top six teams. This is surprising considering they played the longest, along with Spurs, due to the Champions League final. Expect to see a lot of academy players present in these games as a result.

Chelsea

The Premier League starts on the weekend beginning the 10th of August. Chelsea finish their preseason at the end of July giving them 10 days to get their players in the best possible condition for the start of the new season.

Spurs

With the Champions League not finishing until the 1st of June, Spurs‘ players will need a rest. A lot of them then went on the play for their countries and as a result, Spurs don’t pre-season games until July 21st.

Arsenal

The Gunners start their pre-season campaign earlier than any of the top six. Arsenal are taking a team made up mainly of u23’s and u18s to Boreham Wood before the first team get back into it properly.

Man United

Last season was a very disappointing season for Man United. They need to make a lot of signings and embed them into the team straight away. A good pre-season is going to be pivotal for Solskjaer this year.
