International Football

On Friday night, National League South Chorley host Wolves at Victory Park, in the FA Cup fourth round, with the home side hoping to record a big giant-killing.

CHORLEY

The north-west outfit’s main priority this season is winning promotion to the fifth level of the English game. Jamie Vermiglio’s team are currently only outside the play-off spots courtesy of inferior goal difference to seventh place York City.

Their FA Cup run has been a nice distraction for the home side, who have already seen off Gateshead, York City, Wigan, Peterborough and of course Championship Derby County in the last round. The Rams had to field a youth team in the game, but the 2-0 win was still a creditable scalp for Chorley.

The home team has never made it this far in the FA Cup. A win over a Premier League team like Wolves, would without a doubt be a massive one for Chorley.

WOLVES

The team from the Midlands head into this potential banana skin on the back of a 3-2 home defeat in the black country derby against bitter rivals West Brom. The defeat leaves the visitors in the bottom half of the Premier League table.

A run of just one win in their last seven outings in all competition means that head coach Nuno Espirito Santo is under severe pressure for arguably the first time in his tenure at the club.

Wolves have been poor defensively of late, as the visitors have now conceded at least two goals in three of their last four outings in all competitions. Their 1-0 home win over Crystal Palace in the third round saw a rare clean sheet for the visitors.

Team News

Home boss Vermiglio may name near enough the same team that featured in the third-round win over Derby County.

Wolves do not have a massive squad and will not want to add to their recent misery, so head coach Nuno Espirito Santo is likely to pick a strong team. However, they look set to be without Raul Jimenez, Marcal, Jonny and Daniel Podence for this clash.

Match Prediction

The Magpies have done well so far and this is a potential banana skin for the visitors. However, we believe they will have just enough to scrape into the fifth round of the competition.
