On Thursday night, Belgium and France go head-to-head at the Allianz Stadium in Turin, in the second semi-final of the Nations League.

BELGIUM

The Red Devils head into this clash on the back of eight wins in their previous nine international matches. The exception was a 2-1 defeat by Italy in the European Championships.

When it comes to the Nations League Roberto Martinez’s team also has a strong recent record, as they have won five of their last six outings in the competition. In fact, they have also won eight of their ten games in the Nations League since its inception in 2018.

Unsurprisingly, considering the firepower available to the home side, they have also scored at least two goals in all eight of their ten victories in the competition.

FRANCE

The world champions have endured a slightly unconvincing run of form of late, as Didier Deschamps’ team has won just one of their previous six matches in all competitions. However, five of those games have finished in draws, while the one victory in the run was a 2-0 home defeat of Finland in their last outing.

Les Bleus have impressed in the Nations League, though, as they are unbeaten in six matches, having recorded five wins in the process. The visitors have lost once in their ten games in this competition.

Deschamps team has also won their last three away games in the Nations League against Sweden, Croatia and Portugal.

Team News

Belgium have no reported injury problems. Leicester midfielder Youri Tielemans is expected to retain his place in midfielder ahead of in-form Hans Vranken, despite the Foxes man being in unconvincing form this season.

France will be without Chelsea midfielder N’Golo Kante, who will miss out through illness. Aurelien Tchouameni, Adrien Rabiot, Jordan Veretout and Matteo Guendouzi will all battle it out for a place in the centre of the park alongside Paul Pogba.
