BETTING & MATCH PREVIEW
On Saturday evening Schalke and Dortmund go head-to-head at the Veltins Arena in a potentially massive Ruhr derby in the Bundesliga.
The home side continues to struggle for results in the Bundesliga. The Royal Blues have won just one of their last 37 matches in the German top-flight, which leaves them nine points adrift of the relegation play-off spot.
Schalke have struggled for goals of late in the Bundesliga, failing to score in three of their last four matches in the German top-flight. It is little surprise that the home team have scored the fewest goals in the Bundesliga, scoring just 15 goals in their 21 league games this season.
The team from Gelsenkirchen also has a woeful recent home record in the Bundesliga, having won just once in their last 18 matches at the Veltins Arena.
BVB have struggled of late in the German top-flight and are in danger of missing out on the Champions League spots if their form continues its current vein. After just one win in their last six league outings, BVB now find themselves six points adrift of the league’s top-four.
Erling Haaland scored his 15th Bundesliga goal of the season last time out in a 2-2 draw against Hoffenheim. The visitors will be hoping that the Norwegian’s goals will pull them back into the top four in the near future.
Dortmund’s recent away form has been woeful, as BVB have lost four of their last five league games on their travels. Poor defensive displays have cost them dearly in each of those defeats, as the visitors have conceded at least two goals in each loss.
Schalke look set to be without several players through injury, including Klaas-Jan Huntelaar, Matija Nastasic, Mark Uth, Steven Skrzybski, Goncalo Paciencia, Salif Sane, Frederik Ronnow and Kilian Ludewig.
Dortmund could be without Axel Witsel, Dan-Axel Zagadou, Marcel Schmelzer and Roman Burki through injury.
