BETTING & MATCH PREVIEW
On Saturday afternoon, Schalke host Werder Bremen at the Veltins Arena, in a game that could prove to be crucial in the battle for sixth spot and survival.
The Royal Blues are in woeful form heading into this clash. David Wagner’s team have not won in ten Bundesliga games, losing their last three league games in the German top-flight. Last time out, the team from Gelsenkirchen suffered a 2-1 defeat at Fortuna Dusseldorf.
The game saw Schalke concede at least two goals for the fifth match in six outings. Their poor recent results have seen them fall five points behind sixth-place Wolfsburg.
The home side has also scored just twice in their last seven matches in the Bundesliga. Only Union Berlin and the bottom three teams have scored fewer goals in the German top-flight this season.
Schalke have failed to win in four home games in the German top-flight, having won just once in six matches on home soil.
Florian Kohfeldt’s team are currently 17th place in the Bundesliga, five points behind Fortuna Dusseldorf who occupy the relegation play-off spot. All is not yet lost for Werder Bremen though, as they have taken four points from their last two league outings.
A goalless draw against Monchengladbach means that Werder has won just once in nine Bundesliga matches.
The visitors have won once in their last four away games in the Bundesliga, which was a surprise 1-0 win at Freiburg in their last away match in the league.
Schalke look set to be without Amine Harit, Jean-Clair Todibo and Suat Serdar due to various injuries.
Werder will be without the suspended Milos Veljkovic, while Kevin Vogt, Omer Toprak, Kevin Mohwald, Claudio Pizarro and Niclas Fullkrug could all miss out through injury.
