Real Sociedad vs Real Madrid

Real Sociedad vs

On Sunday night, reigning Spanish champions Real Madrid kick-off their La Liga campaign with a potentially difficult trip to Real Sociedad.

Real Sociedad

La Real played some breath-taking football last season under head coach Imanol Alguacil, finishing sixth-place in the Spanish top-flight table.

The team from San Sebastian kicked off the new campaign with a rather underwhelming 1-1 draw at Real Valladolid. The draw means that Sociedad are unbeaten in their last four La Liga games, although their last three matches have finished all square. Four of their previous six league games have produced draws.

Surprisingly, Real Sociedad have struggled for results on home soil of late in La Liga, winning just one of their last six league games at Reale Arena. They have suffered three defeats in their last five home matches in the Spanish top-flight.

Real Madrid

The reigning Spanish champions will head into this clash confident that they can retain their Spanish crown. An 11-game unbeaten run at the end of the league campaign, including ten wins played a key role in Los Blancos ending Barcelona’s run of two straight league titles.

Zinedine Zidane’s team ended the campaign in prolific scoring form, scoring at least twice in their final four league games of the season.

The visitors away form towards the end of the campaign proved crucial in their title triumph, as they finished the season with a five-game unbeaten away run, including four victories.

Team News

New signing David Silva is back in training and could make his Real Sociedad debut. Martin Zubimendi, Joseba Zaldua, Asier Illarramendi, Ander Guevara and Alex Sola could miss out through injury, while William Jose and Mikel Oyarzabal look set to miss out through illness.

Real Madrid have several players likely to be missing through injury, including Gareth Bale, Luka Jovic, Lucas Vazquez, Eden Hazard, Martin Odegaard, Sergio Reguilon, Mariano Diaz, Marco Asensio and Isco.

Match Prediction

This is a potential banana skin for Real Madrid. However, we predict that Zidane’s team will record a victory in San Sebastian.

Odds 8/11
