RB Leipzig vs Fortuna Dusseldorf

WED 17 JUNE 2020 – KO 7:30pm

Leipzig vs

On Wednesday evening, RB Leipzig host Fortuna Dusseldorf in what could be a big game in the race for the top-four and the fight for survival in the Bundesliga.

RB Leipzig

The home side are now looking relatively secure in the top-four of the Bundesliga, as they are third-place, five points clear of fourth-place Bayer Leverkusen and six points clear of fifth-place Monchengladbach. If results go their way in the midweek fixtures, Julian Nagelsmann’s team could seal their spot in the Champions League for next season.

Leipzig head into this game on an unbeaten run of 12 matches in the Bundesliga. Die Roten Bullen are also 12 games unbeaten at the Red Bull Arena in the German top-flight. However, their last four home matches in the league have finished in draws.

Fortuna Dusseldorf

Fortuna could be in major trouble, as 17th place Werder Bremen are now level on points with the visitors, who occupy the relegation play-off spot. A late 1-0 home defeat by Dortmund last time out means that Uwe Rosler’s team have now won just once in their last eight league matches. The fact that they have faced Bayern Munich and Dortmund in their last three league outings has not helped their cause.

Fortuna have been travel-sick in the Bundesliga of late, as the visitors have won just once in their last 14 league matches on their travels. Keeping just one clean sheet in their previous 20 away matches in the German top-flight has been a big factor in the poor away results.

Team News

RB Leipzig are once again without Danish international forward Yussuf Poulsen, while centre-back Ethan Ampadu is also a doubt. Dayot Upamecano should return to the starting line-up following suspension.

Fortuna are without USA international Zack Steffen through injury, while Nico Giesselmann is suspended. Captain Oliver Fink is also an injury doubt.

Match Prediction

RB Leipzig have not been great of late, but Nagelsmann’s team should have enough quality to see off the visitors and all but book their place in next seasons Champions League.

Odds 2/13
