RB Leipzig vs Bayern Munich

SAT 11 SEP 2021 – KO 17:30

Leipzig vs

On Saturday evening, last season’s Bundesliga runners-up RB Leipzig host reigning German champions Bayern Munich at the Red Bull Arena.

Die Roten Bullen have made a poor start to life under new head coach Jesse Marsch. The home side has lost two of their first three matches in the Bundesliga and head into this clash on the back of a 1-0 defeat at Wolfsburg.

However, that form is not new, as Leipzig have now won just two of their previous nine matches in the Bundesliga. Despite the summer signing of Portuguese hotshot Andre Silva, Marsch’s team has failed to score in both their league defeats this season.

At least they are unbeaten in four home matches in the Bundesliga dating back to April. Leipzig have also kept clean sheets in three of those four unbeaten home matches.

After a draw on the opening weekend of the Bundesliga season at Monchengladbach, Die Bayern now seemed to be hitting their stride under Marsch’s predecessor at RB Leipzig, Julian Nagelsmann.

Last time out in the German top-flight, the Bavarians recorded a 5-0 home win over Hertha Berlin. The game saw lethal striker Robert Lewandowski take his Bundesliga goal tally for the season to five goals. The Polish striker will be expecting another prolific scoring season after his record-breaking efforts in the last campaign.

Bayern Munich have now failed to win any of their previous three away games in the German top-flight, as they have picked up two draws and suffered one defeat.

The reigning champions are seven games unbeaten against RB Leipzig, although three of the last four meetings have finished all square.

Team News

RB Leipzig’s big injury worry continues to be Spanish wing-back Angelino, who is expected to once again miss out through a muscle issue.

Bayern could be without Corentin Tolisso and Dayot Upamecano through calf and hamstring problems respectively.

Match Prediction

RB Leipzig have not quite got going under new head coach Marsch, while Bayern look to be improving under Nagelsmann. We predict that Bayern will record a win, in a relatively tightly fought contest.

Odds 11/10
