BETTING & MATCH PREVIEW
On Friday night, PSG will look to add the Coupe de la Ligue to their trophy collection for the season when they face Lyon in the competition final at the Stade de France.
The Parisians were crowned champions for a third straight season, despite the campaign being cut short. Thomas Tuchel’s team also won the French cup this season, so winning this competition would mean that PSG have won all three domestic trophies in their homeland. They are also still in the Champions League, so could also add their first ever Champions League trophy to their burgeoning trophy cabinet.
PSG have enjoyed this competition in recent years, lifting the trophy in four of the last five seasons. It would be hard to rule out another win for Tuchel’s team, even without crucial players.
This has been a season to forget for OL, who finished the season in seventh-place under Rudi Garcia. The final meeting with the club from the capital represents their last chance of retrieving anything from a poor campaign.
Garcia’s team played all their Coupe de la Ligue games on home soil this season, overcoming Toulouse, Brest and Lille. They needed penalty kicks to see off the latter. OL have been prolific in the competition this season, scoring at least two goals in three rounds.
OL have a terrible record against PSG in recent seasons, as they have suffered defeat in 11 of the previous 13 meetings with the Parisians.
PSG are without starlet Kylian Mbappe and Thilo Kehrer through injury, while Juan Bernat is also a fitness doubt. Lyon have no reported absentees for this tough game.
