PSG vs Angers

BETTING & MATCH PREVIEW
It’s PSG vs Angers on Friday night with kick-off scheduled for 20:00. Putting their miserable early season form behind them, PSG head into this clash on the back of three league wins in eleven days.
Losing their first two league games of the season put PSG in unfamiliar territory at the bottom end of the table. Nevertheless, the Paris outfit rediscovered their form and will go into this match with nine points already in the bag. Wins over Metz, Nice and Reims moved PSG up to 7th position, one place above visitors Angers.
Thomas Tuchel’s men have improved from a poor start to the league campaign. The goals are beginning to flow again, and Icardi was on the scoresheet twice against Reims, Mbappe also got two assists in the match. A team performance which will no doubt please the manager.
From a betting perspective, the game provides plenty of possibilities. Cautious punters will be looking at the BTTS market; the previous five PSG games have ended BTTS NO. If you fancy that bet, Boylesports is offering odds of 7/10. The bookies have PSG as clear favourites to win, but with odds around 2/11, the price that will not excite many backers. In the goalscorer markets, Mbappe to score anytime could be worth a shot.
When looking at the recent results between Angers and PSG, a clear pattern emerges. The pattern is one where the Parisians pummel Angers. In the previous ten meetings, the best result Angers can point at is a 0-0 draw back in 2015. The last game between the two was a thumping 4-0 win for PSG in October 2019.
It’s been a mixed bag of results in the 20/21 season so far. Three wins and two loses puts them just one place below PSG in the table. A position more acceptable to them than Thomas Tuchel’s team. Nevertheless, a good win last time out against Brest (3-2) will give them confidence going into the game. Still, I can’t see them getting much from the trip to Paris.
If you think Angers can spring a surprise, then the odds (12/1) for them to win might tempt you. Nonetheless, the form book suggests a win is highly unlikely.
PSG have a couple of injuries but none to crucial players. Kurzawa is serving a ban, and Idrissa Gana Gueye remains doubtful. Angers will be without Waniss Taïbi, Romain Thomas and Mathias Pereira Lage.
