On Sunday afternoon, Manchester City and Manchester United clash in a crucial derby match at the top of the Premier League.

The reigning champions recorded a rather fortunate 1-0 win at battling Everton last time out. The Citizens found it hard going on Merseyside, but the win means that Pep Guardiola’s team has now won three of their last four matches in the Premier League.

The run has been enough to keep City six points ahead of second-place Liverpool, although Jurgen Klopp’s team does still have a game in hand.

City have won seven of their last eight home matches in the English top-flight. The only exception was the recent 3-2 defeat by Tottenham. The Citizens have also kept clean sheets in ten of their last 14 home games in the Premier League.

The Red Devils are currently fourth place in the table, two points clear of fifth-place West Ham in the race for the last Champions League spot in the Premier League. A goalless draw last time out with Watford means that Ralf Rangnick’s team are unbeaten in their last eight Premier League games. However, half of those matches have finished in draws.

Their recent league games have been relatively tight affairs, with under 2.5 goals scored in five of their last six Premier League outings.

The visitors are unbeaten in their last seven away matches in the Premier League, winning three and drawing four of the games in the run.

Manchester City’s only two doubts are over the fitness of backup goalkeeper Zack Steffen and youngster Cole Palmer, neither of whom were likely to feature heavily anyway.

Manchester United have doubts over the fitness of Scott McTominay and Edinson Cavani.
