On Sunday afternoon, it’s Chelsea vs Tottenham at Stamford Bridge in a potentially fascinating capital derby.

The Blues head into this clash on the back of two games without a win. Thomas Tuchel’s team followed up a 1-0 defeat at league leaders Manchester City by drawing 1-1 with Brighton at the Amex Stadium in midweek. The recent results have seen Chelsea fall away in the race for the Premier League title, as they are now 12 points adrift of league leaders Manchester City in the table.

The home team may well be looking over their shoulder in the next few weeks rather than looking up at the top teams, as several of the teams below the Blues have games in hand, mainly due to postponements.

Tottenham

Spurs somehow recorded a 3-2 win at Leicester in midweek, as Dutch winger Steven Bergwijn grabbed a brace deep into stoppage-time. The win means that Tottenham are now unbeaten in their nine league games under Antonio Conte in the Premier League.

The recent stellar league form has moved the north London team up to fifth-place in the Premier League table, just a point behind fourth-place West Ham, with three games in hand on the Hammers.

The visitors are now also unbeaten in their last four away games in the English top-flight, winning their last two Premier League matches on their travels. Tottenham have needed injury-time goals in both away wins though.

Chelsea are without goalkeeper Edouard Mendy who is at the African Cup of Nations, while the likes of Reece James, Ben Chilwell and Trevoh Chalobah are expected to miss out through injury, while Andreas Christensen is also a fitness doubt.
