BETTING & MATCH PREVIEW
In one of the biggest games of the international break, European champions Portugal host world champions France in Lisbon in Group A3 of the Nations League.
Fernando Santos’ team have established themselves as one of the best teams in the world game in recent years. The Selecao heads into this clash on an unbeaten run of eight games, winning six games in the process.
The home team have built their recent good run of form on a solid defensive foundation, as they have kept clean sheets in seven of their last eight matches, including not conceding in their last five games. The European champions have also been impressive in front of goal, scoring at least two goals in six of those eight games in their unbeaten run.
Portugal have a good recent record in the Nations League, as they are unbeaten in their ten outings, winning on seven occasions. The Selecao won the last edition of the competition and will be hoping to retain that title. They are currently top of the group.
The world champions suffered a shock 2-0 home defeat against Finland in midweek. The defeat ended a 12-match unbeaten run for Les Bleus in all competitions, having recorded ten wins.
France have a decent record in the Nations League, recording five wins in their previous eight games in the competition. A record of just one defeat in the competition is a good one.
Didier Deschamps team have won their last two away games in the Nations League but failed to win either of their opening two matches on their travels.
Portugal have no reported injury problems for this clash. The likes of Andre Gomes and Andre Silva have been omitted from the Selecao squad.
France’s only injury doubt is Bayern Munich defender Benjamin Pavard.
