VAR Controversy Again In The Premier League
VAR in controversy again this weekend after only two weeks in the Premier League as Man City have last-minute goal questionably ruled out!
Man City took on Spurs this weekend is a big game for the defending champions. Last season they won the league by one point and proved that every point does count. Liverpool had already won there match against Southampton 2-1 and the pressure was on Man City to not fall behind already.

The hosts were in control for the majority of the game and Spurs were creating many chances. Aguero then restored their lead in the 35th minute and the Champions went in 2-1 at half time. Pep knew though his side would have to get another goal in order to win this game as Spurs could still score with the attack they have.
After the break Lucas Moura got an equaliser, heading in from a corner. City then went on the search for a third goal and what would be the winner. They dominated and had 30 shots in total compared to Spurs’ three. Jesus thought he had won it in the last minute when the ball fell to him from a corner and he slotted it in.
However, 90 seconds and a Jesus dance later VAR disallowed the goal. The replays showed that the ball had touched Laporte on the way through. Citys fans and players were furious and man pundits agreed with them.
The new rule states that any goal that is scored from a handball, be it accidental or otherwise, it has to be disallowed! This rule has come under much criticism, especially given that nothing happen to defenders for accidental handball.
