Manchester City – 16/5
The Premier League leaders are favourites to win the competition and have further strengthened their team in the January transfer window with the signing of Aymeric Laporte. The French defender is their record signing and will be expected to improve a defence that has leaked goals in recent games.
Manchester United – 14/1
United have struggled at times for consistency in the Premier League but the signing of Alexis Sanchez has given them a massive boost. The Chilean forward could prove to be important in what is expected to be a tight last 16 tie against Sevilla. United’s away form in the bigger matches this season will be a concern for Jose Mourinho and they will need to improve this.
Liverpool – 14/1
The Merseyside club have looked incredible going forward but have struggled defensively, even with the signing of Virgil Van Dijk. Klopp’s side face a potentially difficult game against Porto, a side that have caused problems for English sides in the past.
Chelsea – 25/1
Chelsea are seemingly in a crisis now and have conceded 7 goals in their last 2 league matches. They will be hoping that new signing Olivier Giroud will start to improve their fortunes over the next few weeks. A last 16 draw v Barcelona could prove to be a difficult tie for Chelsea but they will take inspiration from 2012, they knocked the Spanish side out on their way to winning the competition.
Tottenham Hotspur – 25/1
Spurs have started to see Wembley as something of a fortress this season and performed well to beat Real Madrid and Borussia Dortmund in the group stages. In the recent transfer window, they signed Lucas Moura from PSG and the Brazillian will join an already exciting attacking line up which already includes Harry Kane and Christian Eriksen. Those odds of 25/1 clearly points towards them being an outsider but if they knock out Juventus in the last 16, they will be confident of having a run to the later stages at least.
