Live football finally returned this weekend, with the Bundesliga being the first league back with big results already in the title race!
It has been just over two months since football was last played in Germany. It was finally given the green light to go ahead this weekend, with the players returning to training two weeks ago.
However, it wouldn’t be back to normal straight away. No fans were allowed in the ground, which made for an unusual experience. It meant you could hear the players a lot more and it kind of felt like a training game. None the less though, it was great to have professional football back!
All the sides in the Bundesliga played, with Werden Bremen vs Bayer Leverkusen closing the opening weekend on Monday night.

Changes At The Top
Going into game week 26, Bayern were top of the league, four points clear of Dortmund and Leipzig just one point behind Dortmund. This makes the end of the season a very exciting finish as Bayern and Leipzig still need to play each other. A win for Leipzig would open up the league for themselves and Dortmund!
Out of these three teams, Dortmund and Leipzig were both first to play, both on Saturday at 14:30 pm.
Dortmund hosted Schalke, and it didn’t take long for them to get a grip of the game. After 29 minutes their Norwegian superstar Haaland opened the scoring. Hazard playing a ball in behind the centrebacks for Haaland to guide home. Guerreiro then scored his first of two in the 45th minute. Hazard then secured the three points three minutes into the second half, scoring first time from outside the box. The game finished 4-0, Guerreiro getting his second on the 63rd minute.
RB Leipzig were at home to Freiburg, in a game that was expected to be fairly straight forward for the home team. Freiburg took a surprise lead in the 34th minute when Gulde flicked a corner in at the front post. It wasn’t the best goal you’ll see all weekend, and the home side should have done a lot better. Leipzig were knocking on the door for a while but only managed to get one back in the 77th minute when Poulsen headed one in. This was all they could manage though, which won’t help their title hopes.
Bayern went away to Union Berlin on Sunday. The league champions had one disallowed, early when Muller tapped it in on the line but was offside. Lewandowski though opened the scoring on the 40th minute, through a penalty, passing it into the bottom right. Bayern then rounded off the game with their second goal, Pavard heading in from a corner.
The wins kept Bayern at the top on 58, with Dortmund four points behind. The draw for Leipzig will have set them back and they are now seven points behind on 51. This has allowed Monchengladbach to sneak into third place on 52 points.
Bundesliga Odds
Bayern are still the heavy favourites to win the league for the eighth consecutive time! They are priced at 1/6 on Paddy Power and these odds will only get lower as the weeks get on.
Dortmund are behind them at 5/1 and will need a few favours to close that four-point gap. Leipzig are then priced at 25/1 but do have to play Bayern still. A win in this for Leipzig would change all the odds as it would give a chance for Dortmund and RB to close the gap.
Next weekend, the games all look winnable for these three sides. This is going to change the odds once again though, so now could be the best time to bet.
