Teams With Highest Over 2.5 Goals Average
We’re going to take a look at which teams average over 2.5 goals in a game the most across Europes best leagues!
Sometimes betting on football can be extremely hard, especially when two teams are evenly matched. Many games can go either way in football, so it’s hard to predict. But one market that takes away have to make a decision on what the result will be is over 2.5 goals.
With most bets now you either need a certain team to score, or a certain player to score. With over 2.5 goals this makes it’s far more enjoyable as all you need is goals. The more goals the better! All you need is there to be at least three goals in the game and the bet will come in. It doesn’t matter what the scoreline is as long as the ball has been in the goal three times or more.
Obviously, some teams/leagues are better for over 2.5 goals than other teams. We’re going to show where is the best place to look when trying to find the games that will have all the goals in.
Eredivisie
Out of the top 10 teams in Europe for scoring over 2.5 goals, the Eredivisie is home to four of them. Last season, Ajax, PSV and Fortuna Sittard had at least three goals in 27/34 of their league games. That is a percentage of 79% and the joint highest across Europe. Ajax and PSV finished as the top two sides in their league, with Ajax winning it by three points on 86 points. Their closest opposition was Feyenoord on 65 points. This shows that there is a gulf in class in the Eredivisie and that these two teams will score a lot of goals due to being far better sides than most in the league.
But this doesn’t mean the rest of the teams in the Eredivisie should be ignored when looking at the over 2.5 goals market. The league itself averaged 3.47 goals per game in the 18/19 season. This is the highest average of goals amongst any of Europe’s top leagues. So when backing over 2.5 goals the Eredivisie is always a good one to go with. For example, on the last week of the Eredivisie, out of the nine games that were played seven of them had at least three goals in them.
PSG
PSG are the only side in the French league to make it into the top 30 teams with over 2.5 goals in. 30 out of 38 of their league games last season had over 2.5 goals in which works out as 79% as well putting PSG and the three Eredivisie teams top across Europe. Like Ajax and PSV, PSG are far better than their opponents in their league. PSG have some of the worlds best-attacking players in Mbappe, Neymar, Cavani and Di Maria. Put these up against some of the players in Ligue 1 and your guaranteed goals.
In PSG’s last nine league games, only once did over 2.5 goals not come in. PSG also only won three of these games showing that even if they don’t win, goals are still scored. But when looking at Ligue 1, you need to be careful as it is the worst league for over 2.5 goals across Europe’s elite. The average goals per game in this league was 2.56, which still hits over 2.5 goals but not convincingly.
Bundesliga
The Bundesliga has four of the other teams in the top ten for over 2.5 goals. Unsurprisingly two of these teams are Bayern Munich and Borussia Dortmund. These two teams were the top two sides in the league, with Bayern coming out on top by two points. Both of these sides have a lot of quality in attack, Dortmund just edged Bayern by 3% with 74% of their games having over 2.5 goals. With players like Lewandowski, Reus, Sancho, Coman, Alcacer etc there is going to be lots of goals.
The other two teams were Fortuna Dusseldorf and Augsburg. Dusseldorf finished tenth and Augsburg 15th. These two teams saw lots of goals in their games because they wouldn’t sit back and give up they always tried to be positive. Augsburg only failed to score in 26% of their games, the same percentage as third place RB Leipzig.
The Bundesliga also had the second highest average goals per game across the big leagues with 3.18 goals. In the last game week of the season, seven out of nine games saw over 2.5 goals, with one having nine goals in total! The Bundesliga is a good league to look at as teams play attacking football.
Other leagues
Europes other leagues aren’t as prolific for goals as the Bundesliga and Eredivisie. The Premier Leauge is the next highest with on average 2.82 goals a game. Man United averaged it the most this season and came 18th in Europe for the highest percentage. Ligue 1 is the lowest with La Liga just ahead on 2.59 goals and then Serie A on 2.68. Another thing to consider is the game itself. Is it a game that neither team can afford to lose so it will be a tight affair? Is it a match between first place and last? Are a certain team missing key players from their defence or attack? These are all things to look for when picking over 2.5 goals.
