Ireland replaced manager Mick McCarthy last month with under 21’s manager Stephen Kenny, and Paddy Power have some promos on his time in charge

With this years European Championship being postponed, Ireland decided now was the right time to make changes. They relieved manager Mick McCarthy of his duties and brought in Stephen Kenny.

The Irishman will be fairly unknown to most football fans. He had a short-lived playing career of just four games for Home Farm. After this, he turned to management and has worked his way up through Ireland. He took over as the manager of Irelands u21’s side in 2018 and the plan was to move him onto the first team after this summers Euros.

Now that Kenny is in charge, Paddy Power has a selection of promos available for his time as the manager of the national side.

Stephen Kenny Paddy Power Specials

Any uncapped player to start Stephen Kenny’s first game in charge – 8/11

The shortest-priced special is this 8/11. Kenny’s first match in charge is likely to be a friendly. He will want to show he is wanting to play his way and bringing in a new face is a great way to do so. Kenny has been the manager of the under 21’s and will no doubt have some players he will want to take with him. This is probably why it is so short-priced and sounds like one that is likely to happen.

Troy Parrot to start in Stephen Kenny’s first game in charge – 2/1

The Spurs youngster has been the talk of most Spurs fans this season. Spurs have had lots of injuries and many called for Mourinho to play him up front. The Portuguese manager said that he wasn’t ready for first-team football despite having made one appearance for Ireland.

In terms of strikers, Ireland doesn’t have any stand out players. Parrot may be the most inexperienced but he is the only one currently at a Premier League club. On top of this, Kenny has managed him in the u21’s so will know how good he is.

Stephen Kenny not to be in charge of the Ireland senior team on December 31st 2021 – 9/2

Kenny isn’t the biggest name in football nor does he have a very impressive CV. Should Ireland not make it to the Euro’s next summer and have a hopeless year under the new manager, a change could very well be made.

Mick McCarthy was given just over a year and a half in charge. With the World Cup in 2022, Ireland won’t want to be going into that with poor form. At 9/2 it could be a great bet should Kenny have a hard time in charge.

To manage an English professional club before December 31st 2021 – 15/2

This is the highest-priced ones of the specials, however it could well come in. As we mentioned previously, if Kenny doesn’t get off to a good start, Ireland may need to make changes for the World Cup. Kenny would then need to land a job in England. This could well happen as he will have managed at international level by then and a lower league club could be attracted by this.

These aren’t the only specials available on Stephen Kenny. In total, there are eight and these will only be available until his first game in charge, so it’s worth doing soon!
