Since Jose Mourinho got the sack in late December, it has been one of the most talked about topics in world football, who will take over at Old Trafford. Well after Manchester Uniteds worst start to a season in 27 years it appears that they won’t be rushed into a decision. Man United have appointed Ole Gunnar Solskjaer as interim manager until the end of the season. However,  will the club turn his role into a permanent one or look for someone else?

Ole Gunnar Solskjaer – 8/11 (Paddy Power)

Solskjaer is now down as the bookies favourite and who could blame them! The ex Man United striker has surpassed Sir Matt Busby to the best ever start to a managerial career with the Red Devils. It could be argued that the Norwegian has Man United playing their best football since the days of Sir Alex. Seven wins and 1 draw puts United top of the current form table and Solskjaer top of the bookmakers list to land the job permanently.

Mauricio Pochettino – 13/5 (Paddy Power)

The Spurs manager was originally the fans favourite to get the job and this could be down to his track record of developing youth. Harry Kane, Deli Alli, Luke Shaw and Adam Lallana to name a few are some of the players that Pochettino has helped develop in the past years. Developing youth has always been paramount at Old Traffords. However, Spurs’ form has declined of late and questions are being asked as to whether it’s really down to the Argentines management or is his prolific goal scorer to thank for their form over the past few years.

Zinedine Zidane – 7/2 (Paddy Power)

Many fans were calling for the appointment of Zizou at the end of last season when he left Real Madrid and Manchester United had another lacklustre season. The 3 time Champions League winning manager could be just what The Red Devils are looking for! He has managed and done so successfully at arguably the worlds biggest club. On top of that dealing with the ego of Cristiano Ronaldo, surely Paul Pogba would be a breeze?

Massimiliano Allegri – 16/1 (Paddy Power)

An outsider but still a respectable option, the Italian has enjoyed a very successful career with Juventus. He has won the Serie A with the Italian giants 4 seasons in a row and with Man United not winning the Premier League since 2012/13, Allegri could be the perfect fit. Couple this with the fact he’s been in Italy for all of his 15 years in management a new challenge could be ideal for him.

With it only being February and Solskjaer having lots more games to get through it is sure set up to be an interesting saga. Managers don’t tend to get auditions for the job but the Norwegian is definitely impressing on his one so far…
