Ronaldo Hits 700 Career Goals
Cristiano Ronaldo has scored his seven hundredth league goal as Portugal lose to Ukraine in Euro 2020 qualifiers!
Whether you’re a Ronaldo or a Messi fan there is no questioning the Portuguese forward’s goalscoring record. Last night he joined an elite list of players to score 700 or more career goals in their career.
There are six players ahead of him in the list of all-time goals. At the top is Josef Biscan of Rapid Vienna and Slavia Prague. The Czech-Austrian scored a total of 805 goals from 1931-1950! Also in this list is one of the all-time greats, Pele. He officially scored 767 goals from 1957-77. Pele does hold the record for the most goals ever with 1281, however, this has caused a lot of controversies as they weren’t in official games.
450 of his goals came for Real Madrid, the club where he has spent most of his playing career. He managed 118 goals as a Manchester United player, where he really made himself known worldwide. 95 goals and counting have been scored for Portugal. He is the leading scorer them by 48 goals, a record that looks like it will never be broken!

Ronaldo vs Portsmouth 2008 – Man United won the league this season and this game come just after they retook first place. Ronaldo got two in this game but it was his free-kick that stunned the world. He was about 25 yards out and had to get the ball up and down quickly. His unique free-kick style meant that he hit the ball and it had no spin on it at all. It flew into the top right corner of the goal leaving David James and Old Trafford stunned.
Ronaldo vs Porto 2009 – Another one of his worldies came in the Champions League. Ronaldo has won the Champions League five times and is the top scorer with 127 goals. This one came in the quarter-finals of the competition in his last season at Man United. He picked up the ball from 40 yards out and knew what he was going to do straight away. Without even looking to pass he smashed the ball towards goal and it flew into the top left corner. This is one of the best goals ever scored in the competition and one that will be remembered for years to come.
Ronaldo vs Juventus 2018 – Just before he joined the Italian giants, he knocked them out of the Champions League. Real faced Juventus in the semi-finals of the competition. Real won the first leg 3-0 but then were trailing 3-0 in the away leg. Ronaldo’s side was in need of a goal and the man for the big occasion popped up. Carvajal played a ball in from out wide that initially looked a bad one. The forward changed his body shape and scored one of the best overhead kicks you’ll ever see. Since then he has been quoted saying it is the best goal he ever scored.
Juventus will be hoping that even in the latter stages of his career he will be able to score goals like this for them. This season they are looking to hopefully win the Champions League, especially after bringing in players like Ramsey and Rabiot.
