Premier League 21/22 Fixtures Announced

Fans Cheering

The 21/22 Premier League season is two months away, but we now know who will be playing who on the opening weekend of the campaign.

It was only a week ago Euro 2020 finished and already are now looking forward to the 2021/22 Premier League season. The action kicks off on August 14th, with the FA hoping to have full grounds from the first weekend.

Three teams came up from the Championship in Norwich, Watford, and Brentford. Getting off to a good start is going to be key for them as getting stuck at the bottom from the beginning can be very hard to turn around.

With more teams than ever trying to get into the top four, we have even more big games to look forward to. The official times and dates for the opening weekend are yet to be confirmed and will be closer to August 14th.

Premier League 21/22 Fixtures Announced

Unlike last season, on the opening weekend this year, all 20 teams will play and there are some fantastic match-ups.

Champions Man City open their account with a trip to Spurs. This is going to be a tough game for both sides, with Spurs actually winning this fixture 2-0 last season. Since then though the two sides have met twice with City winning on both occasions. Pep’s side are once again the favourites to win the league this season at 4/6 with Paddy Power and winning here would give them a lot of confidence. Spurs are currently on the look for a new manager and whoever it is won’t have an easy start coming up against City first game in.

Another game that is going to be a big one on the opening weekend, is Man United vs Leeds United. The two sides are big rivals and played each other last season, both times without any fans. United beat Leeds 6-1 at Old Trafford and Bielsa’s side will be out for revenge. With fans set to be back for this one, its going to be a fantastic atmosphere and just what fans would want! United will be hoping to challenge for the title better this season but a top-four finish again will be the main aim and are priced at 1/3 to finish in it again.

In terms of the newly promoted sides, it’s not an easy start for any. Brentford host Arsenal in their first ever Premier League game. The two sides last met in the League Cup in September 2018. Arsenal beat them 3-1 on the night and will be hoping for a repeat.

Norwich take on Liverpool and the Canaries will just be thankful Luis Suarez is no longer at the club. Norwich last beat Liverpool in the Premier League in 1994, since then they have met 14 times and have drawn just twice with them. Liverpool will be the favorites for this one, but we do see a lot of upset on the opening weekend.

Watford welcome Aston Villa in a slightly easier game for one of the promoted sides. Villa had a good season last year so will be the favourites but given that they both beat each other in the 19/20 Premier League season, it should be a close game. Watford are the favourites for relegation from the Premier League this season at 4/5.

Other games on the opening weekend include, Burnley vs Brighton, Chelsea vs Crystal Palace, Everton vs Southampton, Leicester vs Wolves and Newcastle vs West Ham. We have more detailed breakdowns of each match and how we think the opening fixtures will end up!
