Spurs and Man City confirmed their places in the Carabao Cup final this week, with Jose Mourinho and Pep Guardiola facing each other once again!
The Carabao Cup final, which is taking place on April 25th, will be contested by Spurs and Man City. Spurs beat Brentford 2-0 on Tuesday night, with City winning by the same scoreline against Man United on Wednesday night.
These two sides have met in the final of a competition once, back in 1981. It was the final of the FA Cup and the game finished a draw so it went to a replay. Spurs came away 3-2 winners in the replay.
Spurs and Man City have played each other this season, however. Mourinho’s side won the game 2-0 by sitting back and allowing City to have all of the ball, but hitting them on the counter which worked to perfection.
One of the most exciting parts of this final is the battle between the two managers. They have played against each other 24 times, with Pep winning 11 and Jose seven. The two managers have met in three finals, with Pep winning two and Jose one.

Tottenham
Spurs aren’t the favourites for this and its probably down to the fact they haven’t won a trophy for over 10 years. Their last win was in this competition back in 2008. Mourinho’s side is priced at 9/5 to win the trophy, whether that be in 90 minutes or penalties.
We expect Spurs to do much the same as the last time the two sides met. Mourinho is very good at setting his side up to defend and frustrate sides which he will have to do in the final. He will need to make sure Kane and Son are fit for this one otherwise it’s going to be a much harder game for Spurs.

Man City
As far as competitions go, this is Man City’s. They have won it seven times, more than any other side in the history of the League Cup. On top of this, they have been to the last three finals, winning them all. Due to this, City are obviously the favourites with Paddy Power, priced at 4/9 to win.
City will be confident of beating Spurs but it’ll be by no means easy. Given that the final is in April too, this is at the business end of the Premier League and the Champions League. Pep will have to use his big City squad for this one to ensure he can be competitive in all competitions. We expect City to dominate the possession in the final and that will suit both managers. It’ll be interesting to see how Pep sets up his side to stop Spurs counter-attacking them as they did in the last meeting between the two sides.
