Lyon v Saint Etienne

BETTING & MATCH PREVIEW

Marsielle

On Friday night, Lyon host Saint Etienne at the Groupama Stadium in Ligue One, as the two teams do battle for a place in the top four of the French top-flight.

Lyon are currently fourth place in Ligue One, just a point above the fifth place visitors in the table. A run of four league games unbeaten, consisting of three wins and a draw has helped OL maintain a spot in those all-important Champions League berths.

Last time out, the home side won 4-2 at Guingamp. The game saw Lyon score at least two goals for the third time in four Ligue One outings.

OL are currently unbeaten in four home games in Ligue One and have also suffered just one defeat on home soil in Ligue One in 14 outings. Six of Lyon’s last seven home games have produced under 2.5 goals, which is usually for Lyon in recent seasons.

Saint Etienne are enjoying a steady campaign in Ligue One and a win could move the visitors into the league’s top three spots. Les Verts are currently unbeaten in four Ligue One outings while recording successive wins against Angers and last time out Reims.

Despite their encouraging start to the campaign, the visitors have won just once in their last seven away games in Ligue One. The visitors have also conceded at least two goals in three of their last four matches on their travels.

Team News

Neither team has too many personnel problems heading into this clash. Lyon’s only likely absentee is young forward Amine Gouiri, has a long-term injury, while Saint Etienne have no reported injuries.

Match Prediction

Both sides head into this encounter in decent form. However, I believe that Lyon’s home advantage will be the key to OL recording a victory in a low scoring match.
