Last night Liverpool were finally awarded the Premier League trophy in their final game of the season as they beat Chelsea in an eight-goal thriller

Liverpool were officially champions of the Premier Leauge on the 25th June when Chelsea beat Man City. However, as is with Premier League tradition, they were to be awarded the trophy on their final home game.

Last night was their final game at Anfield of this season in which they would host Chelsea. Lampard’s side would have loved Liverpool to repay the favour and allow them to win to guarantee their Champions League place. However, Liverpool started off the game by putting on a show for their fans.

After 43 minutes, Liverpool were 3-0 and it looked like it would be a cricket score. Chelsea replied just before half time and then got another after half time. The game was like a game of tennis, end to end. It finished 5-3 with Liverpool coming away with the three points and putting them on 96.

The real party started after the game with Liverpool taking to the £1 million stage they had built-in The Kop. Due to this being their first title in 30 years and no fans being in the ground, Liverpool were going to pull out all the stops. Captain Jordan Henderson lifted the trophy even though he missed the game due to injury, and did it in a full kit, very John Terry like…

Liverpool 2020/21

Liverpool’s season is now nearly finished. They have one game to go, before a month-long break before the Community Shield against the winner of the FA Cup. Liverpool won’t be playing in the shortened down version of the Champions League after being knocked out by Atletico Madrid.

Next season they are second-favourites to win the league, despite winning it so convincingly. Paddy Power has Liverpool priced at 15/8 to retain the title with Man City the favourites at 10/11. These are good odds considering Liverpool were so good this year and will probably look to strengthen the squad this season.

For Klopp’s side to finish in the top four is pretty much already a guarantee. Liverpool are at 1/25 to finish in the top four, so it’s probably not worth backing! It would be better looking at the teams fighting for it now like Chelsea (5/6), Arsenal (7/2) and Spurs (9/2).

Paddy Power also have a special on Liverpool to win multiple trophies. The current favourite is for Liverpool to not win any trophies at all at 10/11. For them to win the Premier League and the League Cup is the next favourite at 11/1. There are various different doubles and treble to chose all at different odds which would make next season very exciting as a bet. For them to go all the way and win the quadruple is 300/1. Now, this is a huge ask as Klopp doesn’t hide the fact he doesn’t prioritise the cup competitions compared to the league and Europe. However, Liverpool definitely has the quality to win all four.
