January Transfer Window – Who Could Be On The Move?

We’re now into the January transfer window and rumours are already starting, but who could move where this month?

The January transfer window can be huge in terms of making or breaking a teams season. In the past, we’ve seen clubs make fantastic signings or terrible decisions which have an impact on them massively.

Take Man United for example. In January 2020 they signed Bruno Fernandes for £47 million. He has made an instant impact in the Premier Leauge and helped get United into the top four at the end of last season. Since he joined, no other player in the league has been involved in more goals than him.

At this time of year, clubs know what is achievable for them. Whether they have a realistic chance of the title or not or look like they could be going down. We’re going to look at a few players and where they could go.

Jadon Sancho

The English forward has been brilliant ever since he moved to Germany but it looked like his time was up last summer after being heavily linked with a move to Man United. A fee couldn’t be agreed between the two clubs and Sancho ended up staying at Dortmund. This season, however, hasn’t been his most prolific with just one goal which came at the weekend.

He is still favourite to go Man United with Paddy at 5/2. However, it’ll be a tough one to get done in January. Clubs don’t like to lose their main players in January and Sancho may want to wait to see if United get Champions League again next season. That being said, if Sancho carries on the rest of the season not scoring as many as he should, surely his value will decrease. Are Dortmund better of selling now and getting as much as they can or?

Dele Alli

Spurs number ten has been an outcast at his club since the arrival of Jose Mourinho. This season he has played just 74 minutes of football in the Premier Leauge, getting just one start on the opening day of the season. It is clear he is not in Jose’s immediate plans and this is something we’ve seen him do before at clubs. If he doesn’t think a player is capable of doing what he wants, he’ll make sure the world knows!

Alli was linked with a move to PSG last summer and these rumours are still circulating. Interestingly, his former boss Mauricio Pochetinno has just taken over as manager at PSG and a move there would make sense. Alli is priced at 8/15 to go and we can see this happening. Spurs could still demand a decent fee for the forward and it would mean he would be able to play with some of the best players in the world.

Diego Costa

The ex-Chelsea striker finds himself a free agent this January after agreeing to terminate his contract with Atletico Madrid. At the age of 32, there is still some life left in the striker whose game consists around battling with defenders and making himself a neucense.

He is currently favourite to join Wolves at 6/5 who are without an established striker due to Raul Jiminez horrific head injury at Arsenal. Costa would offer a similar time of physical presence to Jiminez and would help fill the gap in the goals. Costa is also at 7/2 to go to Brazil and join any club there. This could be quite a controversial move though given that he was born in Brazil but chose to play for the Spanish national team.
