Liverpool fans couldn’t believe what they were seeing when their goalkeeper Alisson scored in the 94th minute to beat West Brom!
On Sunday afternoon, Liverpool took on West Brom and needed to win to keep the race for the top four still in their hands. When the two sides met earlier on in the season, the game finished 1-1. Going into this game, Liverpool were the favourites, but Klopp hadn’t beaten Sam Allardyce in their last five meetings, his longest winless run against any manager.
Liverpool got off to a poor start with Robson-Kana latching on to a defensive error and giving his side the lead. This was his first start in the Premier League in three years and he finished fantastically into the bottom left corner.
The visitors dominated the play though and got one back through Salah. He scored a first-time effort from outside the box also into the bottom right corner. This goal taking him level with Harry Kane in the race for the Golden Boot.
Liverpool kept pushing but couldn’t find a way through. With 30 seconds left of stoppage time they were awarded a corner and up went Alisson. At 6ft 2, Alisson is definitly a danger at set pieces and proved it when he met the cross of Alexander-Arnold, to fire the ball into the top right corner. Everyone involed with Liverpool went crazy when the ball went it. It was a goal that kept them in the race for top four, but the fact it came from the person whos job it is to stop the ball going in the net was even more amazing.
Alisson was in tears at full time, after what has been a very hard year for him. He set a new record by being the first goalkeeper to ever score for Liverpool and what a time it was to do so.
