Euro 2020 Best Player Of The Tournament
Some of the world’s best players are taking part in this summer’s European Championships, but who will come out on top as Player Of The Tournament!
There are just 8 teams left in Euro 2020, but thankfully a lot of Europes best players are still in the competition. Now were are into knockout football, it is time for these players to stand up and get their teams over the line.
The Player Of The Tournament award was first given out at Euro 96. Germanys Matthias Sammer was the first recipient of the award after he scored two goals to help his nation win the competition. Antoine Griezmann won the award at the last Euro’s. He scored six goals and finished top goalscorer at the tournament.
Euro 2020 Best Player Of The Tournament
Raheem Sterling – 7/4
The Man City winger has really found his form this summer. England have scored 10 goals in the campaign, four of which he has been involved in. At the start of the competition, there was a debate as to whether he should be in the starting line up, now he is probably the first name on the team sheet.
England style of play suits Sterling. Southgate is happy for them to build up from the back and play in behind. They are good on the counter and this is creating a lot of chances for Sterling. He has starred at Wembley three times so far in Euro 2020 and with both the semi and the final at Wembley, could he guide England to victory?
Harry Kane – 7/2
This one comes as a bit of a surprise right now due to him only really turning up in the last three games. Kane struggled to start off with but have now got four goals and they were all in the biggest games of the competition so far for England.
If though Kane keeps scoring in the knockout stages and England go all they, you couldn’t really look elsewhere for a player of the tournament. We have seen before that when Kane gets on a roll, he can score a lot of goals and that’s exactly what he and England need!
Lorenzo Insigne – 14/1
The Napoli winger has helped his side surpass everyone’s expectations this summer and guide his side to the semi-finals and maybe even further! Insigne has been key in Italy scoring so many goals so far and has got two for himself. One of which was a fantastic goal from outside the box against Belgium to knock them out in the quarter-finals.
We think, that for Insigne to win this award though, his side are going to have to win the Euro’s and he will probably need to get another goal!
