England Qualify For Euro 2020!

Kane England

England beat Montenegro in their 1000th game 7-0 as they book themselves a place in Euro 2020!

Last night was a special occasion at Wembley, as England played their 1000th game. Many England legends were there, which included Wayne Rooney, Paul Gascoigne, Geoff Hurst and many more!

Southgate’s side were hosting Montenegro, with a win guaranteeing a place at Euro 2020. The three lions were heavy favourites for this one, with some bookmakers pricing them at 1/20!

Raheem Sterling was one of the notable absentees from the squad. The Man City forward was left out due to a coming together with Joe Gomez earlier in the week following the Liverpool vs Man City game. Gomez was in the squad though as it was deemed Sterling was at fault for the incident.

England vs Montenegro

England got off to a great start with Oxlade-Chamberlain breaking the deadlock after just 11 minutes, Chilwell the provider. This seemed to open the floodgates as England then put the game to bed within just 37 minutes.

Harry Kane managed to get himself a first half hat-trick with Rashford getting one for himself before half time. Ben Chilwell was in superb form. He managed to get himself three assists setting up Englands first three goals.

Southgate made no changes at half time and was looking to add more goals to the game. The second half was a lot slower to start of with and England broke the deadlock through an own goal.

After this changes were made which saw James Maddison come on and make his much awaited England debut. Joe Gomez was also introduced but unfortunately he was boo’ed as he made his was onto the pitch.

Tammy Abraham replaced Kane and got himself the final goal of the match to make it 7-0. The result put England top of Group A, still with a game to play on Sunday against Kosovo where England are 8/15 favourites.

Harry Kane is now on 31 goals and is only 22 behind top scorer Wayne Rooney. Considering Kane has many more years left at the top level you would expect him to beat Rooney’s record.

Southgate will now be looking to next years Euro’s. His side will be hoping to do better than they did in the World Cup, where they reached the Semi-finals.

France, who are the current World Cup holders, are the favourites at 7/2 with England just behind them at 9/2 on Betfred. This looks promising for England but they will need to be at their very best to really push France next summer.
