Borussia Dortmund has beaten some of Europe’s top clubs to the signing of teenage sensation, Erling Haaland.

The Leeds born Norwegian came onto the scene after game week one in the Champions League. This was his debut in the competition and he joined an elite group of players by marking it with a hat-trick. Since then he has been on fire and attracted attention from clubs all across Europe.

Before he left RB Salzburg he had scored 16 league goals in 14 games as well as eight in the Champions League group stages. It was clear that he would move on to big and better things, but where?

Last month when they played Liverpool at home, it was reported some 40 scouts were at the match, most of which were watching Haaland!

United were reported to be leading the way for the striker and it would mean Haaland working with Solskjaer again after the two were both at Molde together. Due to this many bookmakers had him the favourite to go there with Dortmund just behind.

He had visited Dortmund earlier this month to look at the facilities and the club in general. On Sunday, it was confirmed by the German club that a deal had been agreed for him to go there. The fee was only thought to be around €20 million, which in this market is very cheap!

United apparently were struggling to agree on the deal with super-agent Mino Raiola. He has done deals with them before including Pogba and is hard to negotiate with.

Bundesliga and Champions League success

Dortmund already have bags of talent in their team with Reus, Sancho and Hazard. Adding Haaland though is only going to increase this and give them a different way of playing too.

They are doing well in the Bundesliga, currently sitting fourth and only seven points off the top. Bayern Munich are three points ahead of them. Adding the forward may help to close the gap on Leipzig and push for the title.  They are 12/1 to win the league on Betway, a price that is only going to go down if they can push on.

In the Champions League, they have drawn PSG in the next round. With Haaland being the second top scorer in competition to Lewandowski, they will be confident he can add more goals. PSG will be a tough game but over two legs anyone can win. At 50/1 Betway aren’t giving them much of a chance but now is the best time to back them as if they go through they definitely won’t be at 50/1 again!
