After 12 years away from the club, Cristiano Ronaldo has finally returned to Manchester United to hopefully bring success back to the his former side!

Last week, it looked as if Man United fans nightmares had come true, with Ronaldo set to be on his way to Man City. Harry Kane had committed his future to Spurs and City needed to bring in a striker. Ronaldo had recently asked to not play for Juventus and it appeared that he would be heading to the blue side of Manchester. The deal was rumoured to be near completion with Ronaldo having met with City representatives.

However, on Friday rumours were starting to circulate that he could be set for a much awaited return to Old Trafford. His agent Jorge Mendes has met with both clubs and it was now just a waiting game. Rio Ferdinand and Sir Alex Ferguson had both been in contact with Ronaldo to convince him to go to United and it appeared it worked.

Friday afternoon Man United announced a deal had been agreed, subject to a medical. He cost the club £12.85 million and has signed on a two year deal for around £500,000 per week! He is going to cost them a lot of money in wages, but given he has scored 783 goals in his career to date, he could be worth every penny.

Cristiano Ronaldo Man United Specials (Paddy Power)

Cristiano Ronaldo to score 24 or more goals in the EPL 2021/22 – 13/8

In the last two season, Ronaldo has scored 29 and 31 league goals. Granted this is in the Serie A, which is supposedly easier but Lukaku only managed 24 last season. He has scored over 24 league goals in 11 out of his last 12 seasons. Ronaldo has developed his game now though that he is only ever in goal scoring positions, usually in the box. He doesn’t drift out wide to collect the ball and instead, waits for the ball to get to him. This is exactly what United have been missing and given he has kept himself incredibly fit over throughout his career, you can expect him to play a lot!

Cristiano Ronaldo to score in both EPL 2021/22 matches v Man City – 6/1

In Ronaldo’s career, he has faced Man City 14 times and scored against them five times. Two of theses goals came in the 2006/07 season scoring both home and away against City. With him being so close to joining City this summer, you just know football will have a way of making him score against them. If he is fit you can guarantee he will play and he is the ultimate big game player!

Cristiano Ronaldo to score a hat-trick v Newcastle (11th September) – 18/1

This is United’s next Premier League game and what should be his second debut at the club. Ronaldo has scored 56 hat-tricks in his career, but had only scored one for United. This just so happened to be against next weekends opponents Newcastle. Steve Bruce’s side have conceded eight goals in just three games so far this season. United on the other hand scored five on their only game at Old Trafford. Looking at that, this should be a goal fest and with Ronaldo in the team, who knows!
