Could Man United Be Destined For Relegation?

Old Trafford Feature 2

After Man United’s worst start to a season for over 35 years, could they be destined for relegation from the Premier League?

Man United hosted Arsenal on Sunday it what was a very important game for Solskjaers side. They hadn’t lost a game since they were beaten 6-1 by Spurs and this included games against Newcastle and Chelsea in the league and PSG and RB Leipzig in the Champions League.

This was going to be big for Man United as they looked to get their Premier League season back on track. Unfortunately for Solskjaer, his side was beaten 1-0 in what was another very poor league performance. This is now the fourth home game in the Premier League this season for Man United and they are yet to win one.

The last time this happened was back in 1972/72 and United finished 18th that season. If they finished 18th this season, they would find themselves on the way to the Championship. United are struggling in the league and are currently 15th after six league games. They have just seven points and are already losing pace from the top four, never mind the top! A tough game against Everton awaits them this weekend and another loss and they could move even closer to the bottom three!

What is helping Man United and Solskjaer keeping his job is their Champions League form. They have won both of their opening games, beating PSG 2-1 and Leipzig 5-0. United need to try and take this form into the Premier Leauge and soon if they want any chance of Champions League next season!.

Man United To Stay Up?

Surely relegation won’t even be on the minds of anyone at Old Trafford, however, Betfair now has them priced at 175/1 to go down. We can’t see it happening at all, but at such a high price it could be worth a go!

More realistically is United going for the top four. After a bad start to the season, this will be their main aim. They are priced at 13/5 to get in the top four again this season. United take on Everton on Saturday and this is a must-win. If they can win their game in hand, they can be three points off the Champions Leauge places and suddenly things don’t look so bad.

A title challenge seems way out of the picture. Betfair has United at 45/1 to win the league and even though City, the favourites, and Liverpool aren’t at their best, United are even worse. Under Solskjaer United probably won’t mount a decent title challenge, however, he may not be there for much longer as he is 4/1 across most bookmakers to be the next manager to lose their job!
