After a 5-2 defeat to Leicester City, Man City are now no longer the favourites for the 2020/21 Premier League season!

Despite finishing 18 points behind Liverpool in the league table last season, Man City went into this one as the favourites. Liverpool were a close second to them in the odds after winning their first Premier League title so convincingly.

This surprised many as Man City were so far behind Liverpool last season and have lost a few key players. David Silva has left the club after ten years and Leroy Sane has joined Bayern Munich. Liverpool haven’t lost any key players and if they can perform to the level they did last season, it’ll take some beating.

Last night, however, the odds changed into Liverpool’s favour and we can’t say we’re surprised. They are now favourites with Paddy Power at EVS after Man City‘s 5-2 loss to Leicester, with Peps side now at 5/4. City has won one out of two games this season, whilst Liverpool won both, one of which was against Chelsea.

Yesterday showed that Peps side are still behind Liverpool. They haven’t replaced the players they lost and with Aguero and Jesus both out, the points difference could get even bigger before they’re back! At EVS, Liverpool could be good to back now before a potential gap appears between them and City and the odds get shorter.

However, this is just a set back for Man City and it doesn’t mean they can’t win the league still. They have just signed centre-back Rúben Dias for £65 million from Benfica to join other new centre-back Nathan Ake. City still have a very good squad but will need to improve on yesterday’s performance.

Man City’s Hunt For A Trophy?

Even though they’re not favourites for the Premier League now, Man City are still the favourites for the EFL Cup. They are priced at 5/2 and have won the EFL Cup the last three years in a row. This is a competition Man City can do well in because they have such good squad depth.

The Champions Leauge is that main one though for Pep and everyone involved at Man City. He was brought in for this reason and is yet to win the competition with City. They are the second-favourites to win the Champions Leauge this year at 9/2. Last season was there best chance to date but were knocked out by Lyon in the quarter-finals. City may need to add one or two players though to finally land their first-ever Champions League trophy.

The final competition in which they could get silverware is in the FA Cup. City last won the FA Cup in 2019 and got to the semi-finals of the competition last season. City are the favourites for this one at 10/3. Pep has won a trophy in every year at Man City, bar his first one. He won’t want this to happen again
