City Make It Four Carabao Cups In A Row!

Manchester City v West Ham UTD

Man City beat Spurs at Wembley in the final of the Carabao Cup to make it four consecutive final wins in the competition in a row!

On Sunday afternoon, Spurs and Man City went head to head at Wembley in the final of the Carabao Cup. This was City’s fourth final in the competition in the last four years. For Spurs, they had last been to a final in 2019 in the Champions League, but last won one in 2008 in this competition.

City were the favorites and for several reasons. They have a very experienced side in terms of playing and winning in finals. Spurs on the other hand aren’t at all and had recently parted ways with Mourinho, who is a specialist in winning finals. On top of this, City have a much better and bigger squad and that has been proved by the 24 points separating them in the league.

The game went much as expected, with City dominating the ball from the first minute. Spurs were always going to have to defend well and look to use the pace of Son and Lucas on the counter. City created a few good chances in the first half, with Foden seeing his effort from close range turned onto the post by Alderweireld. The controversy of the first half was the fact that Laporte was still on the pitch. He took out Lucas twice without any attempt to play the ball but received just one yellow card.

Spurs registered their one and only shot on target as the second half started. Lo Celso trying from distance and forcing Steffan into a good save. The second half was much the same with City controlling the game. They kept pushing Spurs and ended up having a total of 21 shots, four of which were on target. They broke the deadlock in the 82 minute, when Laporte rose highest at free-kick and headed it into the bottom right corner. Spurs had little reply after this and City went on to win their eighth Carabao Cup.

What Next For Man City?

City missed out on getting into the FA Cup final when Chelsea beat them in the semi-finals recently. This put the dreams of the quadruple to an end. They are currently top of the Premier League by ten points and with five games to go, its all but done. City are priced at 1/200 to win the league now with Betfair.

The biggest aim of Citys season though is to win the Champions League. They are the favourites in the competition priced at 5/4. City face PSG this week in the semi-finals of the competition and should they get to the final they would face either Chelsea or Real Madrid. City are the best team left in the competition, but they have never got this far in the Champions League, nor have their players.
