Can Liverpool Really Go Unbeaten This Season?
Liverpool are on course to win their first Premier League title this season and are yet to lose, but can they really go unbeaten this season?
Going unbeaten is an unbelievable achievement for any team in any sport at any level to do. To keep up a level of performance across a whole season that no one can beat is very difficult. Now doing this in the Premier League where players go for well over £50 million each is something else.
At the start of the season, this would never have been Liverpool’s aim. Originally it would have been to just go one step better than last season and win the Premier League. However, this season has gone better for Liverpool than they could have expected. They are 14 points clear of Man City with a game in hand to make it 17 points.
The title, according to Betway, is as good as done. They are priced at 1/50, with Man City way out at 16/1. So far they have won 20 games and drawn just one. This is a ridiculous record, considering they’ve played all of the ‘Big Six’ at least once. Only one team have done it so far in the Premier League and that’s Arsenal. They won 26 games and drew 12.

✅ Scored in club record 30 successive league games (passing 29 in Div 2, 1957-58)

Who do they have left to play?
Man United (H) (19/01/20) – United are the only team this season to take points off of Liverpool this season when they drew 1-1 at Old Trafford. However, they’ll have a job to do it again this Sunday at 7/1 on Betway. Liverpool are in consistently good form whereas United are all over the place. With Rashford looking 50/50 and Pogba and McTominay out, United have a mountain to climb at Anfield.
Everton (A) (14/03/20) – Liverpool neighbours would love to be the ones to stop them going invincible. Under Silva, this would have not happened but with Ancelotti, there is a chance. Klopp tends to not field his best 11 against Everton, and this fixture is around Champions League time. When they played at Anfield in December though Liverpool won 5-2 and will be confident of another three points.
Man City (A) (04/04/20) – City are probably the side with the best chance of stopping Liverpool going invincible. Liverpool have already beaten them 3-1 this season but City still have a squad good enough to beat them especially when all their injured players return. Having pretty much already lost the title to Liverpool, Pep won’t want them to do the double over them either. April though is a busy month for the Champions League so depending on if these two sides are still in it will determine what type of game we get.
Arsenal (A) (02/05/20) – Another 3-1 win Liverpool earlier on this season came against the Gunners. They have had a bad season and as a result, Emery got the sack. They need to bring in some defensive options this window to help them for the rest of the season. However, there is no doubting the ability they have going forward and could Arteta be the man to orchestrate a huge win.
Chelsea (H) (09/05/20) – Chelsea have gone to Anfield late on in the season before and spoilt the party, could they do it again? When they played at Stamford Bridge the game finished 2-1 to Klopp’s side. Now Chelsea can strengthen their squad in the transfer window, can they bring in enough to beat Liverpool.
