With some big-money signings in the current transfer window and Ancelotti in charge, can Everton finally break their 25-year wait for a trophy?
The last time Everton got their hands on a trophy was in 1995 when they beat Man United 1-0 in the FA Cup. Since then it has a very unsuccessful time for the club, much to the delight of Liverpool fans. It is now a running joke between both sets of fans for how long Everton last won something.
However, this might all change soon. They now have Carlo Ancelotti in charge, who was brought in during the middle of last season. The Italian has a fantastic record as a manager, he’s won The Champions League, Premier League, FA Cup and the Bundesliga to name a few.
On top of this, he is now an attraction for big players around the world to join Everton, and he has done just that. They signed James Rodriguez for £12 million, Allen for £21.7 million and Abdoulaye Doucore £20 million. These are all good players who will definitely improve Everton and maybe even bring an end to their trophyless run!
But, what trophies could they actually go on and win?
Can Everton Break Their 25 Year Wait?
The Premier League is way out of Everton’s reach this season. They do have a much-improved squad but it is one that is more built for a cup run. They are 250/1 to win the league which sums up their chances.
The FA Cup could be a good one. As we said, this was the last trophy they won back in 1995. They are at 25/1 to win the FA Cup and all they would need is a good draw to get far in the competition. Watford managed this in 2018/19 when a good draw saw them get to the final against Man City. However, they end up losing that 6-0. The draw for who Everton will face hasn’t been done yet as the competition is currently in the preliminary rounds.
The competition they have the most chance in we feel is the Carabao Cup. This is the one that most of the bigger clubs will play weaker teams in as they prioritise other competitions. With Everton having won nothing and just brought in new players, they will have to go for it in the Carabao Cup. They are 20/1 to win this which could be a great outsider.
