Arsenal frontman and captain Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang finally put pen to paper on a new three-year contract at the club, much to the relief of Gunners fans
Probably Arsenal‘s biggest signing of the season was getting Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang to agree on a new contract with the club. His last one was due to expire at the end of this season, which would have allowed him to talk to clubs in January.
Aubameyang’s new contract is a three year one, that is reportedly worth £250,000 per week. He is crucial to Arsenal challenging in the Premier League again. This was emphasised when he set the record for the fastest Arsenal player to score 50 league goals, doing so in just 79 games. This beat the record of club legend Henry who managed it in 83 games.

The last time Arsenal qualified it to the Champions League was when they finished second in the 2015/16. Since then they have not finished in the top four of the Premier League. This year they have two ways of qualifying for it, top four or winning the Europa League. Top four will be very hard as there are a lot of good teams in the Premier League and Arsenal finished eighth last season. Winning the Europa League will also be difficult as now far more teams take it seriously as the main prize is Champions League qualification. If Aubameyeng doesn’t see out the three years of his contract, this could well come in.

Now, had he not of signed a contract this would have almost been a given, but it could still happen. If Arsenal has a bad season where they finish low down in the table again and don’t rectify it with an FA Cup win again, Aubameyang may look elsewhere. He’s 31 now and he won’t have many more seasons at his peak. With two years left of his contract at this point, Arsenal may even look to cash in on him, if he wants to go! Remember just because he’s captain doesn’t mean he won’t pull off a shock move *cough* Van Persie *cough*.

This would be every Arsenal fans dream if this came in. In Aubameyangs last two seasons, he got the Golden Boot in his first one and one-off it last season. He should definitely be up there at the end of the season. In terms of Arsenal getting top four, it all depends which Arsenal turns up. Recently, they have been playing very well with wins over Chelsea and City but then they can go and get beat by Aston Villa. At 7/1 though it’s a good price for something that Arsenal are capable of.
To be the Premier League top scorer in each of the next 3 seasons – 66/1
He nearly did it last season and has three years left at the club. Granted its 66/1 so its a longshot and it requires him to not get injured but he is capable of doing so. It’s a long bet at such good odds, it could be worth a small punt.
