£20m Too Much for Khedira?
With the 2014 FIFA World Cup soon drawing to a close, football fans will be left with a gaping void in their lives which will undoubtedly be quickly filled by Summer Transfer News.
Rampant on social media, the transfer window has an addictive pull that just sucks you in with every rumour and speculation and of course if you’re a Manchester United fan things get even trickier as one player after another is touted to be heading Old Trafford’s way under new manager Louis Van Gaal.
One potential signing that has raised quite a few eyebrows is Germany’s Sami Khedira. Khedira reportedly has a price tag of £20m which apparently has made the powers-that-be at Arsenal baulk at the prospect of opening up the coffers.
According to the Daily Mail Arsenal have made enquiries to gauge the cost of a deal but the financial outlay attached to the deal has cast doubt on a potential move.
Despite just having 12 months left to run on his Real Madrid contract, the 27-year-old defensive mid-fielder could cost in-excess of £20million and in addition is reportedly looking for a whopping £150,000-per-week pay packet which would make him Arsenal’s best paid player.
All in that translates into a significant £60m deal that has stopped Wenger in his tracks as he re-considers the World Cup finalist as a signing particularly as he’s just spent £30m on Chile international Alexis Sanchez and is close to completing an £11m deal with Newcastle for right-back Mathieu Debuchy.
Give it a day or two though and no doubt the rumour mill will have Khedira signing with Manchester United long with every other player on the planet!
