Newcastle Jets v Melbourne City FC
BETTING & MATCH PREVIEW
On Monday morning (GMT), Newcastle United host Melbourne City FC in A-League, as the visitors look to consolidate their place in the final series.
The home side are currently six points outside the play-off spots in the A-League. However, they have played an extra game than Perth Glory and Western United in fifth and sixth respectively in the table.
Carl Robinson’s team have experienced mixed fortunes of late in the Australian top-flight. However, a 1-0 defeat against Brisbane Roar last time out ended a six-match unbeaten run in the league for the Jets.
The home side has struggled defensively, as they have kept clean sheets in just two of their last 15 matches in the A-League.
Their recent home record in the Australian top-flight has not been great either, as they have won three of their last ten league games on home soil. They are however unbeaten in their last four league encounters on their own patch.
Melbourne are currently second place in the table, seven points behind league leaders Sydney FC. The visitors are also four points clear of third-place Wellington Phoenix, who are currently in quarantine due to the coronavirus.
Eric Mombaerts team have been in decent league form of late, winning four of their last six outings in the A-League. Last time out they won 4-2 at Central Coast Mariners.
Newcastle Jets will be without Ben Kantarovski, Lachlan Jackson and Noah James due to injury. Melbourne City were without both Jack Hendry and Richard Windbichler through injury last time out and they may well miss out once again.
