BETTING & MATCH PREVIEW
On Saturday afternoon, Napoli host Atalanta at the San Paolo, in what could be one of the most entertaining games of the Italian football weekend.
Gennaro Gattuso’s team started the season off with impressive wins over Parma and Genoa. However, the team from Naples were handed a 3-0 default defeat for their last game at Juventus for failing to turn up to the match due to local medical advice. They have also been deducted a point for the incident, which means they have five points from their opening three league games.
Despite the administrative defeat, everybody connected with Napoli will be pleased with the campaign so far. This clash will be a test of that positive mood.
Napoli have been in stellar home form of late in the Italian top-flight, as they are unbeaten in their previous eight league matches at the San Paolo, having recorded wins in their last four home outings.
The visitors have taken their stellar form from last season into the new campaign, winning all three of their Serie A matches so far. A 5-2 home hammering of Cagliari was yet another prolific game for Gian Piero Gasperini’s team in Serie A, as the Nerazzurri have now scored at least two goals in four of their previous five league games dating back to last season.
Atalanta head to Naples unbeaten in their previous 12 away games in Serie A, having recorded three straight league wins on their travels, including victories in their previous three away games.
Napoli look set to be without Lorenzo Insigne due to injury, while Eljif Elmas and Piotr Zielinski look set to miss out through illness.
Atalanta have a high number of potential absentees. Boris Radunovic is suspended, while Marco Tumminello, Cristiano Piccini, Matteo Pessina, Josip Ilicic and Mattia Caldara could miss out through injury and fitness issues.
