Monchengladbach vs Wolfsburg
SAT 17 OCT 2020 – KO 19:30
BETTING & MATCH PREVIEW
On Saturday evening Borussia M’gladbach take on Wolfsburg, kick-off is scheduled for 19:30. Both teams will be hoping to improve on their poor start to the season.
Marco Rose’s team made a slow start to the Bundesliga campaign. They lost 3-0 on opening day to Dortmund and drew 1-1 with Union Berlin in the next game. However, they did record a win over FC Koln in their last league game before the international break.
Monchengladbach heading into the clash in better form than Wolfsburg. Nevertheless, games between these two clubs have been difficult to call in recent years. ‘Gladbach won the last fixture between the clubs back in June 2020 (3-0). Wolfsburg won the game before that in December 2019. In the last eight meetings between the clubs, only two games have ended in draws.
I expect Monchengladbach to edge out Wolfsburg in a tight game. Boylesport have Marco Rose’s side as a 5/6 shot to win the match. The over 2.5 goals market could also be worth a look, only one of the last eight meetings between the two clubs has ended under 2.5 goals.
Despite being unbeaten in the Bundesliga, Wolfsburg head into this game one point behind Monchengladbach. Three league draws have left them hovering just above the relegation zone. Oliver Glasner’s side will have to start winning soon, to match their 6th place finish last season.
Draws against Augsburg, Freiburg and Leverkusen are not terrible results. However, Wolfsburg have scored just one goal in the campaign so far, a worry for the manager.
Fans can get decent odds on Wolfsburg to win away, 14/5 with Boylesports. It’s likely to be a close match, and it’s not unrealistic to expect that Wolfsburg could get something from the game. Even so, I expect the best they can hope for is a draw – and that might not be a bad bet considering their last three league games
Monchengladbach has several players on the injury table: Kramer, Reitz, Villalba, Lazaro and Zakaria. Wolfsburg will likely be without Klaus, Bruma, Otavio, Steffen, Victor, Mbabu, Pongračić and William.
