BETTING & MATCH PREDICTION
On Sunday afternoon north west rivals Manchester United and Liverpool meet at Old Trafford in a Premier League encounter that promises to be a cracker.
The heat is on United head coach Ole Gunnar Solskjaer after some poor recent results in the Premier League. The Red Devils suffered a 4-2 defeat at Leicester last time out in the English top-flight, which means that they have failed to win in three league outings, having suffered two defeats in the process. United are now five points behind league leaders Chelsea at the top of the table.
United have even struggled for results at Old Trafford, where they have now won just two of their previous seven home games in the Premier League. The fact that the Red Devils have failed to keep a clean sheet in nine home matches in the league has been a factor in that poor recent home record.
To make matters worse they face an opponent that they have beaten just once in the last ten Premier League meetings.
The Merseysider’s have seemingly found their top form of late in the Premier League. A 5-0 hammering of Watford at Vicarage Road in their last Premier League game made the Reds 18 games unbeaten in the English top-flight. The win over the Hornets also saw the visitors score at least two goals for a fifth straight Premier League outing.
Jurgen Klopp’s team are unbeaten in 11 matches on their travels in the English top-flight, having scored at least two goals in nine of those recent unbeaten matches, including scoring at least three goals in their previous five league games away from home.
French international centre-back Raphael Varane missed out against Leicester due to a groin injury. He remains an injury doubt for this clash.
Liverpool are expected to be without midfielder Thiago and Harvey Elliot due to calf and ankle injuries respectively.
United have been poor at Old Trafford, while Liverpool have been deadly in attack on their travels. We are backing the away win in a high-scoring encounter.
PREDICTION – AWAY WIN
