Manchester United

The Red Devils are fifth-place, occupying the final qualification spot for next seasons Champions League. However, sixth place Wolves are now only behind Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s team courtesy of inferior goal difference. Wednesday’s visitors are also just two points behind United.

United are unbeaten in six top-flight games. However, three of those six games have finished in draws, including a 1-1 draw at Tottenham last time out. The home side will need to up their game to cement their place in the top-five this season.

The Red Devils have been difficult to beat at Old Trafford in the Premier League of late, as they have suffered just one defeat in their previous 12 home matches in the top-flight.

However, they have won their last two home games in the league, while keeping clean sheets in their last three home games too.

Sheffield United

The visitors have defied all odds this season after winning promotion under local boy Chris Wilder. The Blades are still in contention for a European spot this season after a superb campaign.

However, their league form has dipped of late slightly, as they have won just once in their last four league games. Last time out they suffered a 3-0 defeat at Newcastle after John Egan was dismissed early in the second period.

The loss at St James Park means that the team from Yorkshire have now won just once in their last six away games in the English top-flight.

Team News

Manchester United look set to once again be without centre-back Phil Jones due to injury.

Sheffield United will be without the suspended Egan, while on-loan goalkeeper Dean Henderson is ineligible to face his parent club. Centre-back Jack O’Connell also remains a major fitness doubt.

Match Prediction

Manchester United must be fancied on home soil, especially with the Blades potentially missing three key defensive players. We are backing a narrow home win, as the Blades are very rarely pushovers.

Odds 4/9
