BETTING & MATCH PREVIEW
For the second time in a week, Manchester United and Liverpool clash on Sunday afternoon. This time it’s in the fourth round of the FA Cup and the venue is Old Trafford.
The Red Devils head into this clash on the back of a 13-game unbeaten run in the Premier League, which has taken them to the top of the Premier League table. That runs includes a goalless draw against Liverpool at Anfield last Sunday.
Their only defeat in 12 matches in all competitions was a 2-0 loss against arch-rivals Manchester City in the League Cup semi-final second leg.
Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s team scraped past Watford 1-0 at Old Trafford in the third round to set up this big north clash. However, United have a good recent record in the grand old competition, having won five of their last six matches. Last season they suffered a semi-final defeat by Chelsea.
The reigning English champions have been in poor form in recent matches. Jurgen Klopp’s team suffered a 1-0 home defeat last time out, which means that the Reds have won just one of their last six competitive matches. However, that one win was a 4-1 win at Aston Villa in the FA Cup third round. That win was achieved against a youthful Villa side due to illness, though.
Liverpool have a mixed recent record in the FA Cup of late, winning just three of their previous seven matches in the competition. Their recent away record in the FA Cup is a poor one, as they have won just two of their previous eight matches on their travels.
Manchester United are set to be without youngsters Brandon Williams and Facundo Pellistri, while centre-back Victor Lindelof is a fitness doubt.
Liverpool look set to be without the usual suspects of Virgil van Dijk, Joe Gomez, Konstantinos Tsimikas and Diogo Jota. Naby Keita and Jordan Henderson are also fitness doubts.
