Lyon v Caen
BETTING & MATCH PREVIEW
On Saturday night, Lyon host Caen at the Groupama Stadium, in a potentially vital game in the fight for the last Champions League spot and survival.
Heading into the last two games of the Ligue One campaign, Lyon are third-place in the table, four points clear of fourth-place Saint-Etienne who occupy the Europa League position in the French top-flight. A victory in this clash would seal a top-three spot and a place in the Champions League play-off round for next season.
Bruno Genesio’s team have hit form of late in the French top-flight, as a 3-0 win over Marseille last time out means OL are unbeaten in four league games, having recorded three wins a draw. Lyon have also been prolific of late in Ligue One, scoring at least two goals in their last four league outings.
Lyon’s recent home form in the French top-flight has been rather inconsistent. However, OL have suffered just one home defeat in nine matches at the Groupama Stadium in the top-flight.
Caen are currently 18th in Ligue One, in the relegation play-off spot and just two points clear of the relegation zone. Time is running out for the visitors to move clear of the drop zone.
Despite their position in the table, Caen head into this clash in good form. The visitors are unbeaten in four Ligue One matches, having recorded three victories. Last time out, they recorded a 3-2 victory over Reims.
Caen’s recent away record in Ligue One is poor, but they have managed to pick up four points from their last two away games at Nice and Guingamp.
Neither side has any reported injury problems heading into this big clash. Considering that both teams have been on good runs of form of late, it seems unlikely that either boss will make many changes to their line-ups from last time out.
