BETTING & MATCH PREVIEW
On Wednesday night, champions Liverpool host Chelsea at Anfield in the Premier League, with the home side set to lift the English top-flight trophy.
This will be the last home game of a historic season for Jurgen Klopp’s team, who ended their 30-year wait for an English top-flight title. The Reds have already won the Premier League title by a major margin. However, the Merseysider’s will be keen to finish the season strongly.
However, the home team head into this game on the back of taking just a point from their last two top-flight matches. Last time out, Klopp’s team suffered a 2-1 defeat at Arsenal in the Premier League. The result means that despite having the best defence in the league, the
Reds have kept just one clean sheet in their previous five top-flight matches.
The Blues are still fighting it out for Champions League football for next season. Frank Lampard’s team are third in the table but are just a point clear of both fourth-place Leicester and Manchester United in fifth-place. With the pair facing each other on the final day, Chelsea will be confident of securing a top-four spot for next season, despite this difficult match in their penultimate league match.
The visitors head into this game in good league form, having won four of their last five matches in the Premier League. Last time out they recorded a highly impressive 3-1 win over Manchester United in the FA Cup semi-finals.
Liverpool are expected to be without Joel Matip and Jordan Henderson due to injury, Dejan Lovren and James Milner are also fitness doubts. Chelsea could be without youngsters Billy Gilmour and Fikayo Tomori through injury, while N’Golo Kante is also a fitness doubt.
