Liverpool v Everton
BETTING & MATCH PREVIEW
On Wednesday night Liverpool and Everton clash in the Merseyside derby, in what could be a pivotal game for Toffees boss Marco Silva.
The home side has been outstanding in the Premier League so far this season. Jurgen Klopp’s side has won 13 of their 14 top-flight games to open up a lead of eight points to second-place Leicester City.
Last time out, the Reds recorded a 2-1 victory against Brighton at Anfield, with the only negative a red card for first-choice goalkeeper Alisson, which rules him out of this clash.
A big part of Liverpool’s good results in recent seasons has been their home form. The Merseysider’s have now gone a massive 45 games undefeated on home soil in the top-flight.
In fact, the Merseysider’s have won their last 14 home games at Anfield in the Premier League, scoring at least two goals in each of the wins.
While Liverpool have experienced a dream start to their campaign, neighbours Everton are experiencing a nightmare season in the top-flight.
The Toffees are 17th place in the Premier League, only two points above the dreaded relegation zone in the English top-flight. A late 2-1 defeat at Leicester last time out means that the visitors have won just three of their last ten top-flight games.
The poor run of results has seen the future of boss Marco Silva thrown into question. Another loss here could see Silva leave the club.
Everton have been travel sick of late in the league, losing five of their last six away matches on their travels. Winning at Anfield on current form would be a footballing miracle.
For Liverpool, Adrian will start in place of the suspended Alisson, while Joel Matip and Fabinho will miss out through injury.
Everton are without long-term midfield casualties Andre Gomes and Jean-Philippe Gbamin due to injury. Full-back Seamus Coleman is also unlikely to figure due to injury, while Fabian Delph and Theo Walcott are also fitness doubts.
