Liverpool In Premier League Crisis!

Liverpool have recorded yet another loss in this terrible run of form, but how bad can this season get?!

Jurgen Klopp’s side hosted Fulham on the weekend in what looked to be the game that would stop this terrible run of form. However, it was just the opposite with the visitors recording a huge 1-0 win against a much-changed Liverpool side.

Liverpool were top of the league on Christmas Day, but since then have won just three games in the Premier League. The main issue has been their home form. Liverpool boasted a record of 68 games unbeaten at Anfield, but have now lost their last six! This has included games against Fulham, Brighton and Burnley who are all fighting for survival, along with rivals Everton.

The poor run of form has seen Liverpool drop to eighth in the table, four points of Chelsea in fourth, who have a game in hand! Winning the title consecutively was always going to be up for debate, but getting in the top four was never, until now.

A lot of this is down to injuries to key players. Liverpool lost Van Dijk and Gomez early on in the season, but injuries to Fabinho, Henderson and Jota a long the way have made it even harder. Liverpool have had over 20 partnerships in defence this season, which is never going to bring consistent results. But it’s not just in defence they have had issues. Liverpool have scored just one goal at Anfield in 2021, which was a penalty. Their front three are nowhere near the form they can be and need to step up.

With things being as bad as they can be, how can this season realistically end for Liverpool?

How Will Liverpool Finish Up?

Man City are currently 22 points ahead of Liverpool and even though Klopp has conceded the title, it didn’t take a genius to work this out. For Liverpool now, the main aim is to get into the top four. If Chelsea win tonight, Liverpool will have a seven-point gap to close and given current form, that is a big ask.

Liverpool are now 3/1 on BoyleSports to get into the top four this season. They still have big games to play this season, with Man United and Arsenal in upcoming fixtures. They will need to win these games if they want to get into the Champions League next season.

However, Liverpool are still in the Champions League and face the second leg against RB Leipzig in the Round of 16 this week. They are the fourth favourites to go all the way in the Champions League at 7/1, which would put them in the competition next season. Liverpool are going to need to get some of their injured players back if they want to go far in Europe, as right now a big club like Bayern or City would and should beat them.
