Leicester City vs Southampton

TUE 19th JAN 2021 – KO 20:15

Leicester Vs

On Tuesday night, Leicester host Chelsea at the King Power Stadium, in what could be a big game at the top of the Premier League table.

We are half-way through the Premier League campaign and Brendan Rodgers team is third in the table, trailing leaders Manchester United by just two points. The Foxes recorded a 2-0 win over Southampton in their last league outing to take their unbeaten league run to five matches.

The Foxes have looked dangerous going forward in recent league matches, as they have scored at least two goals in six of their last eight matches in the Premier League.

One facet of their play that will need to improve if Rodgers team are to mount a realistic title challenge is their home form, as the team from the Midlands have won just three of their last eight home games in the Premier League. One positive from recent home matches is that they have scored at least two goals in three of their last four top-flight outings on home soil.

The Blues recent form has been disappointing, as a 1-0 win against ten-man Fulham last time out ended a mini three-game run without a league victory for Frank Lampard’s team. The poor run of form has seen Chelsea slip to seventh place in the table, five points adrift of fourth spot, which is currently occupied by reigning
champions, Liverpool.

The visitors have been poor on their travels of late, as the win at local rivals Fulham also ended a three-game losing streak away from home in the Premier League for the Blues. This clash will certainly be a test of their resilience on the road.

Team News

Leicester are without Belgian winger Dennis Praet due to injury. Star striker Jamie Vardy is also a fitness doubt after picking up a knock last time out against Southampton.

Chelsea have doubts over the fitness of Danish centre-back Andreas Christensen. Kurt Zouma and Timo Werner were benched against Fulham and both will be hoping for a recall for this clash.

Match Prediction

We fancy Leicester to win this one, especially with Chelsea’s underwhelming away form. The presence of Vardy could be a deciding factor, though.

Odds 15/8
