On Sunday, Sevilla and Real Betis clash at the Sanchez Pizjuan, in what is a massive Andalusian derby in La Liga.

Julen Lopetegui’s team head into this game second-place in La Liga, just six points behind league leaders Real Madrid. The Rojiblancos are unbeaten in their last 11 league matches after a 1-1 draw at Espanyol last time out in the Spanish top-flight. 

The result means that Sevilla have now drawn four of their last five league games, which will frustrate everybody connected with the home team. 

They have been strong at the Sanchez Pizjuan in recent months, as an unbeaten run of 14 home games in La Liga illustrates. That stellar run includes 11 wins and three draws. 

REAL BETIS

Manuel Pellegrini’s side has been one of the surprise packages of La Liga this season. The Verdiblancos are sitting pretty in third place in the table, five points behind their local rivals, but also four points clear of Barcelona and Atletico Madrid, who currently occupy fourth and fifth place respectively. 

The visitors head into this clash on the back of four wins in their last five matches in La Liga following a 2-1 home win over Mallorca last time out in the Spanish top-flight. 

A big part of the visitor’s recent good form has been their potency in front of goal, as they have scored at least two goals in all four of those recent league victories.

Sevilla look set to be without attacking midfield duo Erik Lamela and Suso due to shoulder and ankle injuries respectively. Real Betis could be without experienced goalkeeper Claudio Bravo and full-back Martin Montoya through injury.
