Juventus vs Lyon

FRI 7th AUGUST 2020 – KO 20:00pm

Juventus vs

On Friday night, Italian giants Juventus host Lyon at the Allianz Stadium in the Champions League last-16 second leg. The home side has to recover from a 1-0 first-leg deficit to make the quarter-finals of the competition.

The Bianconeri claimed a ninth straight Scudetto this season, but incredibly it was the first major piece of silverware for head coach Maurizio Sarri in his managerial career. Despite yet another domestic title, the Italian champions finished the campaign in poor form, winning just two of their final eight games of the season. To make matters worse they suffered defeats in three of their final four matches of the campaign.

However, their recent Champions League record is a good one, as the first-leg defeat ended a five-game winning run in Europe. The team from Turin also scored at least twice in four of their five consecutive wins.

The Bianconeri also have a strong recent home record in the Champions League, winning five of their last six matches at the Allianz Stadium.

The visitors will take heart from the first-leg victory. However, OL did not enjoy a good season in the French top-flight, as they finished seventh place in the Ligue One table.

The visitors don’t have a great recent record in the Champions League either, as OL have won just three of their previous 14 matches in Europe’s elite competition. The visitors also have a poor recent away record in the Champions League, as they have won just once on their travels in six games. They have also conceded at least two goals in three of their last four away games in this competition.

Team News

Juventus are without Mattia De Sciglio, Paulo Dybala, Douglas Costa and Sami Khedira through injury. However, Lyon have no reported injury problems, so should have a fully fit squad available for their trip to Turin.

Match Prediction

Juventus have not been in great form of late. However, the Bianconeri are formidable opponents at the Allianz Stadium, so we are backing the team from Turin to record a victory against the travel sick visitors.

Odds 4/9
