Scotland vs Israel

scotland vs

On Saturday evening, Scotland and Israel go head-to-head at Hampden Park in Group F of European qualifying for next years World Cup.

The home team have boosted their qualification chances by recording back-to-back 1-0 wins over Moldova and Austria in Group F. The results so far have been good enough to take Steve Clarke’s team to second place in the group, seven points behind group leaders Denmark and a point clear of the third-place visitors.

Scotland have been hard to beat of late in qualifying, having lost just one of their last 12 World Cup qualifiers. The home team have based their recent good qualifying record on a solid defensive foundation, as they have kept clean sheets in three of their last four outings.

The visitors have given themselves a fair chance of finishing in second place in the group, with Denmark seemingly big favourites to seal top spot in Group F. Willi Ruttensteiner’s team have a decent recent record in the international game, having recorded four wins in their previous six outings.

The visitors have been prolific in recent matches, having scored at least three goals in all four of their recent victories.

A 5-0 defeat in Denmark last time out ended a four-game unbeaten run in World Cup qualifying for Israel. It ended a three-game winning run in qualifying.

The defeat also ended a three-game winning run on their travels for the visitors in World Cup qualifying.

Team News

Scotland have no reported injury worries heading into this clash. The likes of David Marshall, James Forrest and Leigh Griffiths all miss out on the squad.

Israel have major injury doubts over centre-back Idan Nachmias, as the defender has a shoulder issue.

Match Prediction

We believe that Scotland will record a narrow victory to boost their chances of qualifying for the World Cup.
